Sailing a Swedish river
…in winter
What they call a river in France, they modestly call a stream in Sweden 😀. And there is plenty of water in the Swedish streams – and the nearest ones are not far away from my house.
But fortunately (or unfortunately for us river sailors), there are many hydroelectric plants, but not many locks, on these rivers.
On the whole, these streams feel like a secret. How far can you sail up such a Swedish river before you are stopped by a power plant? It feels a bit like a Pippi Longstocking-adventure trying it out!
For a micro-adventure, my wife Margareta and I set out to investigate.
However, it was not a power plant that stopped our journey up the largest stream (river?) in Scania, Helge å. It was something completely different…
